As the British economy continues to struggle, work-life balance is disappearing for many UK workers. According to figures published by the TUC a total of 5.4 million employees worked unpaid overtime in 2013 with the average UK employee working seven hours and forty eight minutes of unpaid overtime per week. Frances O’Grady, TUC general secretary said “The many bosses who encourage long hours in the office should rethink their approach as stressed, overworked staff are often unhappy and unproductive”.
